چکیده

Enlargements have proven to be useful tools for studying maximally monotone mappings. It is therefore natural to ask in which cases the enlargement does not change the original mapping. Svaiter has recently characterized non-enlargeable operators in reflexive Banach spaces and has also given some partial results in the nonreflexive case. In the present paper, we provide another characterization of non-enlargeable operators in nonreflexive Banach spaces under a closedness assumption on the graph. Furthermore, and still for general Banach spaces, we present a new proof of the maximality of the sum of two maximally monotone linear relations. Finally, we establish the maximality of the sum of a maximally monotone linear relation and a normal cone operator when the domain of the linear relation intersects the interior of the domain of the normal cone. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification: Primary 47A06, 47H05; Secondary 47B65, 47N10, 90C25

On two properties of enlargements of maximal monotone operators

We give an answer to an open problem regarding the full enlargeability of a maximal monotone operator S : X ⇒ X∗ by Sse, the smallest enlargement belonging to a certain class of enlargements associated to S. Moreover, we prove the weak∗ closedness of the set ShS (ε1, x)+ThT (ε2, x) under a weak generalized interior regularity condition.

An application of the bivariate inf-convolution formula to enlargements of monotone operators

Motivated by a classical result concerning the ε-subdifferential of the sum of two proper, convex and lower semicontinuous functions, we give in this paper a similar result for the enlargement of the sum of two maximal monotone operators defined on a Banach space. This is done by establishing a necessary and sufficient condition for a bivariate inf-convolution formula.

A proximal point method in nonreflexive Banach spaces

We propose an inexact version of the proximal point method and study its properties in nonreflexive Banach spaces which are duals of separable Banach spaces, both for the problem of minimizing convex functions and of finding zeroes of maximal monotone operators. By using surjectivity results for enlargements of maximal monotone operators, we prove existence of the iterates in both cases. Then w...

Some results on pre-monotone operators

A Proximal Point Algorithm for Finding a Common Zero of a Finite Family of Maximal Monotone Operators

In this paper, we consider a proximal point algorithm for finding a common zero of a finite family of maximal monotone operators in real Hilbert spaces. Also, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the common zero set of finite operators to be nonempty, and by showing that in this case, this iterative sequence converges strongly to the metric projection of some point onto the set of c...
